You can have them delivered to Ultimutt directly or bring them with you next time you are in. (11225 Threadstone lane Knoxville TN 37932)
Next time your're at the store, pickup a few items for our sweet rats.
We'll have a "rat jar" at each practice and trial. You can drop any amount y ou'd like.
Our practice sessions are limited in March and April. Our trainer and rat owner, Shannon, has 7 Australian Cattle dog pups on the ground that she is taking care of. We are able to borrow her rats occasionally but we are limited to Meet the rats/Intro to Barn hunt and Run Thrus.
All New dogs start with a meet the rat session (15 min). Once your dog is actively engaged with the rat, then you move into the Intro to Barn Hunt training session (30 min) in our smaller ring. The next step is moving into the big Barn hunt ring for a Private lesson (30 min).
In Barn Hunt, dogs are trained to run an obstacle course that's studded with a number of live rats (in aerated PVC tubes), plus empty tubes that may or may not smell like rat.
for information on Barn Hunt check out the Barn Hunt
Association page. www.barnhunt.com
Fill out this Barn Hunt information form to get started. You only need to fill this form out once for each dog you want to bring to Barn Hunt Sessions. After you fill out this form for your dog, you don't have to do it again for that dog!
First-timers! For brand new people who have a dog that hasn't met the rats in the cage yet. This may be repeated if necessary, before moving on to Intro to Barn Hunt.
Cost is $20 for 15 minutes 1 dog.
Be sure you have filled out the Barn Hunt Registration form above for your dog(s)
For dogs that have met the rat in the cage, have engaged well and are ready to move on to more of an introduction to barn hunt basics. Dogs must do Meet the rats prior to this. Trainers will let you know if your dog is ready to move to this type of training. This may be repeated several times! The idea is to get the dog familiar with the rat in the tube, finding hidden tubes, doing a very short tunnel and climbing on bales before going into the big Barn Hunt ring.
Cost is $30 for 1 dog for 30 minutes.
Be sure you have filled out the Barn Hunt Registration form above for your dog(s)
This is only for dog teams that are trialing. No new dogs. There is no instruction, but staff will hide the rats in the big ring for you. Most dogs can do 2 runs in this type of session.
NO INSTRUCTION INCLUDED.
Cost is $20 for 1 dog for 15 minutes.

STARTING BACK IN MAY
For dogs that have finished Intro to Barn hunt and have been directed to move up to Private sessions. Instruction is included. Dogs can work on specific aspects of barn hunt like Tunnel, indicating better, working better in the ring, avoiding litter tubes, etc. This can be for upper-level dogs if there is something you need to work on. Dogs get 2-3 runs but most dogs get tired and stop working hard after the 2nd run. It's best to work to the level of your dog's attention and frustration level.
INSTRUCTION IS INCLUDED
$30 for 30 minutes 1 dog
Additional dog is $10 per dog
For dogs that need time in the ring. Dogs must be trialing or ready to trial. Each run is $7 with trial like atmosphere. Each run is up to 5-6 minutes (from start to finish)
